Windy start to the work week in Metro Detroit

Morning showers will give way to a sunnier afternoon

DETROIT – Broken line of light, nuisance showers will push across Southeast Michigan through the morning. By this afternoon, we not only dry out, but clouds will give way to sunshine. Highs will be slightly above average in the upper 50s, however expect windy conditions today as a cold front crosses the region. Peak gusts are expected to be in the 30 to 40 MPH range.

Quiet weather arrives Tuesday and Wednesday with warming temperatures on either side of 60 as a ridge of high-pressure builds in. Models are in good agreement for a Clipper System to track through the northern Great Lakes Wednesday bringing with it windy conditions midweek. More seasonal low 50s are on tap Thursday before rain chances increase on Friday.

Say it isn’t snow?! Long-range models are pulling in a chance for snow to mix with rain on Sunday. We are still several days out to fine-tune this part of the forecast, but with temperatures falling around freezing Saturday night the rain could change over to wet snowflakes or a rain/snow mix on Sunday morning. Highs over the weekend will be below average in the mid to upper 40s.
