DETROIT – Grab an extra layer and sunglasses as you head out the door today. It’s a chilly start with wind chills in the 20s and teens. Otherwise, mostly sunny with highs in the low to mid-40s this afternoon. We are still holding on to a light breeze which will make it feel brisk from time to time.
Wintry Mix
Set your alarm clock slightly earlier tomorrow as your morning commute might be a bit slower and slick. There is a chance for rain and snow on Tuesday. We are more likely to see the wintry mix along and south of I-94 in the morning and possibly lifting as far north as I-96/I-696 into the afternoon. Most snow will melt, but if snow persists down in Lenawee and Monroe counties, we could see some minor accumulations. Dry and seasonally cool conditions Wednesday.
Late Week
We rise above average, into the 50s on Thursday and Friday. As of this writing, rain is possible Thursday night into Friday. There are discrepancies on the late week rain, but for now we will keep a slight chance in the forecast through Friday evening.
Downtown Tree Lighting
An early look at the Tree Lighting forecast downtown on Friday will have temperatures sliding back into the 40s during the evening event with a slight chance of a shower, although likely dry by the time we flip the switch!
Early Look at Thanksgiving
The Climate Prediction Center has the temperature outlook trending above average into Thanksgiving. Long-range models are putting highs temperatures near 50 and chances for rain. There is still quire a bit of time to see that change. We will fine-tune the forecast in the week ahead.
