Metro Detroit weather: What to expect on Sunday

Gusty winds bring in colder air for the second half of the weekend

The normal high for Metro Detroit this time of year is 36 degrees.

Southeast Michigan neighborhoods hit that mark Saturday afternoon before slowly falling into the lower 30s for the evening.

It will continue to feel colder with winds shifting from the SW to WNW at 15-20mph, gusting into the 30s at times, for most locations.

Sanilac County, along with the rest of the thumb and Bay Region, will see slightly higher wind speeds at 20-25mph. Wind gusts here could reach 40 to 50mph.

For this reason, the National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory until 4am Sunday for these areas.

Morning temperatures Sunday will be in the teens to near 20 degrees, however, wind chills will be running in the single digits to around 0 degrees.

Westerly winds lighten throughout the day Sunday, falling to around 5-10mph by the evening.

Highs Sunday will be in the mid to upper-20s with afternoon sunshine.
