Metro Detroit is waking up to a little haze and patchy fog this morning, but those early-day clouds and reduced visibility will gradually give way to sunshine as the day progresses.
A significant warm-up is underway, bringing summer-like temperatures to Southeast Michigan today and Wednesday. Afternoon highs will climb well into the 80s, providing a taste of summer before the calendar even turns to June. Combined with plenty of sunshine, it will be ideal weather for outdoor activities, although make sure to apply sunscreen as the UV Index will be very high.
The overall weather pattern remains very dry with limited opportunities for rainfall across the region for the foreseeable future. The only notable chance for precipitation arrives late Wednesday, when a cold front could trigger a few scattered showers or non-severe thunderstorms. Rain coverage is expected to be limited, and many communities may remain completely dry so make sure you have the sprinklers out and ready.
Following the brief midweek shower chance, temperatures will trend closer to seasonal averages. Highs are expected to settle back into the mid to upper 70s beginning Thursday and continuing through the upcoming weekend. Great conditions on tap for the Detroit Grand Prix!
