DETROIT -

Each year the Detroit Metro Convention & Visitors Bureau (DMCVB) hosts two Family Reunion Planning Seminars. This fall’s seminar will take place on Sept. 15, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Cobo Center in downtown Detroit. Preparations for the seminar are underway, and the DMCVB is expecting a large turnout.

The purpose of the Family Reunion Planning Seminar is to give family reunion planners the tips and materials they need to plan a memorable reunion in metro Detroit. With informational presentations followed by an interactive tradeshow, the seminar serves as a one-stop shop for reunion planners looking for inspiration for their events, and it is completely free of charge.

"This seminar is a valuable event for both the people who aren’t sure where to start with their reunion planning and the people who want to put a new spin on an annual tradition,” says Manager of Events & Travel Jennifer Miller. “They’ll come with a lot of questions and leave with a lot of answers, ideas, handouts and, not to mention, prizes and giveaways.”

The first half of the seminar is dedicated to providing attendees with information that will help them answer the following questions:

  • How can I make my reunion unique?

  • How can I keep on track with my reunion planning?

  • What do I need to know before signing a hotel contract?

  • How can the DMCVB help with my reunion?

Attendees will also have the opportunity to browse and mingle with the dozens of exhibitors in attendance who will elaborate on the services they have to offer. Their booths will represent hotels, banquet facilities, entertainment companies, caterers, attractions, t-shirt and souvenir companies and other metro Detroit companies.

In previous years, the event has attracted between 450-500 attendees and 45-50 exhibitors. If you’re interested in attending, you must register at www.meetdetroit.com/reunions.

By registering, you’re guaranteed a spot at the seminar and access to vendor information and planning materials such as Visit Detroit magazine, the official metro Detroit visitors guide.
