Warming trend brings rain showers to Metro Detroit during NFL draft weekend

Saturday highs in upper 70s; Sunday highs in lower 80s

Rain showers will move into Metro Detroit around 11 p.m. The showers will wind down by mid-morning. Expect some afternoon clearing, but a few pop-up showers or thunderstorms will be possible in the afternoon. Another chance of showers will come during the late evening. 4Warn Weather – Warmer, more humid air will flow into Southeast Michigan this weekend.

It will be wet and breezy for people leaving any late-night establishments or gatherings on Friday night. The rain will approach Metro Detroit from the southwest by 11 p.m. As a warmer air mass pushes into Southeast Michigan, overnight temperatures will be in the lower to mid-50s. Winds will be out of the east and east-southeast around 10 mph with gusts up to 20 mph.

Saturday

Plan for a wet start to Saturday, which is the final day of the NFL draft in Downtown Detroit. The showers will wind down by mid-morning. Expect some afternoon clearing and sunshine, but a few pop-up showers or thunderstorms will be possible in the afternoon. We may be able to go through the Tigers’ evening game without any rain issues, but another slight chance of showers will come during the late evening. There is a low chance that an isolated storm could have gusty winds, mainly west of US-23. Highs will be in the mid-70s. Winds will be out of the south and south-southwest at 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.

Saturday night, it will be mostly cloudy with the chance of a few showers. The chance will be better north and west of Metro Detroit, such as in the Flint area. Lows will be in the lower 60s.

Sunday

It will be mostly cloudy with the chance of a few showers and scattered thunderstorms on Sunday. Highs will be in the upper 70s to 80 degrees. The normal high is 64 degrees, and the record high is 84 degrees. The chance of showers will continue into the evening. Lows will be in the lower 60s.

Workweek

The warm, wet weather will continue into the workweek. Highs will be in the upper 70s to near 80 degrees on Monday, mid-70s for Tuesday through Thursday, and mid-60s on Friday. Showers chances will last through Thursday.

Next Friday’s weather will be slightly cooler, but seasonal. A high-pressure system will influence the weather and give Metro Detroit sunshine and dry weather.
