Pistons honor Detroit music legend with new collection

Sweatshirt and hats designs pay tribute to J Dilla

Just in time for 313 Day, the Detroit Pistons are dropping a new retail collection that honors late hip-hop producer and member of Slum Village, J Dilla.

“I think when you think of Detroit you think of music, and when you think of music in Detroit one of the first names that comes up is J Dilla,” said Pistons Vice President of Brand and Marketing Strategy Bilal Saeed.

The Pistons are rolling out a special collection of sweatshirts and hats that incorporate designs that pay tribute to J Dilla. Some of the designs include donuts, which celebrates J Dilla’s album titled Donuts.

“My father left behind this great legacy, these big shoes to fill, and he left so early. And just to be on the receiving end of all of the support and love from not only just the city, but worldwide and everywhere, it’s a feeling that’s unmatched,” said one of Ja’Mya Yancey.
