ROYAL OAK, Mich. – Family members of an 80-year-old Royal Oak woman who was killed this week say they'll spend Thanksgiving reflecting on the memories of their loved one.
Nancy Dailey was found dead in her home on Trafford Street Sunday evening.
She was found with her hands bound behind her back and her throat cut. She was found by a cousin.
That cousin, who asked not to be identified, met with Local 4 on Wednesday to speak on behalf of the family.
"Nancy loved life. She always saw the glass half full instead of half empty," the cousin said. "This Thanksgiving, we will give thanks to the Lord for the Police Department for doing such a thorough job. And give thanks to the Lord for letting Nancy be a big part of our live."
The cousin said she found Dailey in the hallway, and that it looked like she had been trying to get to another room in the house to escape her attacker.
"Nancy adored her family and we adored her. We are fortunate to have such fond memories of her. Nancy will always be missed but will live in our hearts forever," the cousin said.
A homeless couple that Dailey hired just days before her death are being held in connection with the case.
The two, 48-year-old Alan Craig Wood and 40-year-old Tonia Michelle Watson, were arrested for parole violations on Tuesday. They have not been charged with Dailey's death, but have criminal records.
