Police Chief James Craig said Head was in the home with his father and two other siblings. No one else was hurt.

Police haven't said who the gun belongs to.

Head went to the Academy of Business and Technology Elementary School in Dearborn. They've set up an online fund to help his family.

"Daylen was an energetic and loving son, brother and friend. He will be remembered fondly by all who knew him," the fund reads.

A vigil is planned for Daylen Saturday, Nov. 14, at 5 p.m. at 26187 W. Outer Drive in Detroit.
