Police also find 3 young girls home alone at house on Ardmore Street

DETROIT – Detroit police are looking for a 17-year-old who shot his mother's fiancés inside their home Thursday on the city's west side.

Police said the teen and the 37-year-old fiancé were arguing when the teen allegedly fired a shot, hitting the man.

The fiancé is in stable condition at a hospital. The teen is on the run.

Police said they are also investigating the living conditions in the home because three young girls -- ages 1, 3, and 5 -- were found alone and appeared to be hungry when they responded to the scene.

Police said the children had been left alone while the mother took her fiancé to the hospital.
