DETROIT – Detroit police said officers were involved in a deadly pursuit early Monday morning on the city's west side.
Officers from the 10th Precinct first observed a Dodge Caravan about 12:50 a.m. driving without a license plate. The van had struck a pole near Joy Road and Livernois. Officers went to investigate.

That's when the minivan fled, police said, forcing officers to pursue. The minivan eventually crashed at Coleman Street and Tireman Avenue near the Dearborn-Detroit border. Police said the van hit another vehicle, a 2015 Ford Focus, and several other parked vehicles.
A passenger in the Caravan was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. Police said he was a man in his mid 20s. The driver was taken to a hospital with multiple injuries. He was in critical condition but has since died from his injuries.
The 21-year-old driver of the other vehicle also was taken to a hospital. His condition is not known at this time. A 20-year-old woman who was a passenger in the car was not injured.
