Father, girlfriend arrested after 3-year-old Inkster boy's death, police say

3-year-old died of injuries in hospital

INKSTER, Mich. – A father and his girlfriend are in custody after a 3-year-old Inkster boy died Thursday in the hospital, Inkster police said.

The father, 41, and his girlfriend, 21, are facing possible homicide charges.

Police said they were called to a Garden City Hospital emergency room, where the 3-year-old was suffering from severe injuries to his head and all over his body. The boy was alive when he got to the hospital, but police said he succumbed to his injuries.

Neighbors told Local 4 little Timmy was friendly and fun to be around. They said the family moved into the apartment on Inkster Road a short time ago. They were crushed by the news that he had died.

"It's very shocking, because I never heard hollering or anything like that," neighbor Aaron Parker said. "They're very friendly."

Inkster police are investigating the case. An autopsy is pending.
