Ferndale police released info on suspect in armed robbery

Ray Slayton is considered armed and dangerous

FERNDALE, Mich. – Ferndale police have released the picture of the man they believe robbed a doctor's office at gunpoint.

Police said the incident happened March 24, when the gunman first pointed a pistol at a receptionist in the building, which is in the 800 block of Livernois Avenue, and demanded money. When the receptionist said she didn't have any, the gunman went into an examination room and pointed the pistol at a doctor.

Police said when the doctor told the gunman there wasn't any money in the office, the gunman grabbed a blank prescription pad and ran out.

Police believe the masked gunman is 47-year-old Ray Lynn Slayton. He is described as a white male, 5-foot-11, with a medium build, brown hair, and hazel eyes. Slayton is believed to be in the area of Hazel Park, Warren, or Detroit near Dequindre. He is considered armed and dangerous so citizens should not approach him but should call police if they see him.
