ROMULUS, Mich. – Romulus police are hoping a child sex abuse case isn't worse that what its investigation has already revealed.
Former U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer and Boy Scouts leader David Radecki, of Livonia, has been charged with four counts related to a case involving a 12-year-old boy.
If the allegations are true, police are worried there could be other victims. They're asking parents to have a conversation with their children to make sure.
The investigation began in October 2016 when a 12-year-old boy reported being touched inappropriately many times by Radecki. The two knew each other through the Boy Scouts Troop 793 in Belleville, where Radecki was a Scout leader.
After five months, the Wayne County prosecutor charged Radecki with two felonies -- second-degree criminal sexual conduct and accosting a child for immoral purposes -- and two misdemeanors for indecent exposure.
"The behavior included in these allegations is abhorrent and runs counter to everything for which the Boy Scouts of America stands," the Boy Scouts said in a statement. "Upon learning of these allegations, we took action to preclude this individual from any further participation in the scouting program."
Radecki was released on bond and is wearing a tether. He's scheduled to return to court Wednesday.
Police are asking anyone who thinks they could have more information on the case to come forward.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection released this statement:
"U.S. Customs and Border Protection is aware of an alleged incident involving one of our officers. We are unable to provide any additional comments regarding this matter at this time."
