The police department said the officer responded to a 911 call on Gibraltar Road for a man who was "out of control" and used the Taser to subdue Kapuscinski.

Kapuscinski was taken to a hospital, but died.

The officer was placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation by Michigan State Police.

The Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office listed Kapuscinski's cause of death as cardiac dysrhythmia, an irregular heartbeat.
