Bodycam footage shows response to mass shooting from officers' point of view

LAS VEGAS – Las Vegas police have released body cam footage from officers who were at the scene of a mass shooting that left dozens of people dead and more than 500 injured.

In the video, you can hear the sound of an automatic weapon being fired into a crowd of fans at a country music concert.

The video is a compilation of clips that show the perspective of multiple police officers. Police said they encountered several uncooperative citizens as they tried to locate the source of the gunfire.

Officials also provided an update on the investigation into the shooting.

Stephen Paddock, 64, of Nevada, was identified as the shooter after he was found dead in a hotel room with an arsenal of weapons. Police said Paddock fatally shot himself as a SWAT team approached his room at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino.

Paddock's girlfriend has been named as a person of interest in the investigation.

At least 59 people were killed and 527 were injured in the shooting, police said. The crowd was gathered outside Mandalay Bay for a Jason Aldean country music concert.

Las Vegas Sheriff Joseph Lombardo held a news conference at 4 p.m. Tuesday after police made several additional steps in the investigation.

Paddock said police have identified all but three of the shooting victims.

Police announced Monday that they had removed in excess of 18 firearms from Paddock's home in Mesquite, along with explosives and thousands of bullets. On Tuesday, Lombardo said police removed seven more weapons, additional ammunition and electronic devices from the home.

Officials said the majority of people who were killed in the shooting died because of gunshot wounds, but it's not confirmed if all deaths were caused by gunshots.

They have not been able to confirm whether Paddock trained himself with the automatic weapons he used in the shooting.

Police said SWAT members were delayed in entering the hotel because Paddock had stopped shooting, so the situation was being treated as a barricaded situation at that point.
