WARREN, Mich. – Shane Burns was bound over to Macomb County Circuit Court Friday, Jan. 5, in connection with two stabbings in Macomb County.

Burns is accused of killing a woman May 17 in the parking lot of a Belle Tire store in Roseville. Authorities said he stabbed the woman multiple times in the ribs and then slit her throat.

Prosecutors said he drove to the area of 12 Mile Road and Harper Avenue, where he approached a man waiting at a bus stop and reportedly stabbed him multiple times.

Burns was taken into custody that night. While in custody, police said Burns began biting at his own wrists, got into an altercation with a police officer, grabbed a knife from the officer and slit his own wrist.

During a search of Burns’ vehicle, police said they found a shotgun, a 9 mm firearm, and a large quantity of ammunition.

Burns will stand trial on eight felonies; first-degree murder, assault with intent to murder, felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of ammunition, carrying a concealed weapon, disarming a police officer and two counts of felony firearm.

He continues to be held on a $10 million cash/surety bond.

Burns is expected to return to court Jan. 22.
