ROYAL OAK, Mich. – A 20-year-old man faces several charges in connection to a violent home invasion and attack on a woman in Royal Oak.
Elliot Abrams is accused of breaking into a home early Monday morning and holding a woman, who police and witnesses said is his ex-girlfriend, at knife-point.
Police say the woman, her boyfriend and another male friend arrived home about 3 a.m. Monday and noticed the back door had been forced open. They also found zip ties and duct tape in the kitchen. Suddenly, the woman's ex-boyfriend emerged from a closet and grabbed her. He held a razor knife to her throat and had a hatchet in his other hand, police said.
He was not immediately recognized by the victims because he was wearing a mask, hoodie and rubber gloves.
When the woman began to fight the attacker, her boyfriend, who armed himself with a knife, stabbed him. He was held on the floor until police officers arrived at the home.
Abrams remains in critical condition at a hospital, where he is under police supervision. He is charged with unlawful imprisonment, felonious assault and first degree home invasion. He was arraigned and received a $750,000 bond.
