Keego Harbor police dashcam video shows mother's wild ride through Oakland County

KEEGO HARBOR, Mich. – A 22-year-old mother led police on a wild chase Wednesday morning through multiple communities in Oakland County.

Video from a Keego Harbor police car's dashcam shows the high-speed chase. The mother allegedly fled the scene of a wreck she caused.

The officer was told to be on the lookout for the white Dodge Durango. The woman behind the wheel of the SUV saw police coming and started speeding away.

"So at that point we decided to set up a blockade are in an attempt to get her to stop, and that's when she struck the patrol vehicle," said Keego Harbor police officer Jim Cote.

Anyone who has ever driven in this area of Oakland County knows that a vehicle flying through an intersection on Orchard Lake Road and then onto Commerce Road going 80 miles per hour could easily kill someone.

"She was traveling at speeds in excess of 80 miles an hour when she veered over the double yellow line into oncoming traffic," said Cote.

She didn't stop. Her two small children, a 1-year-old and the other 2 years old, were in the back seat.

She weaved in and out of traffic, nearly causing another wreck. She was in full run from the cops and nearly lost control of the SUV before finally pulling over.

She then jumped out of the SUV and moved toward officers with her hands in the air. Police say she started slapping and hitting the officers before they were able to wrestle her to the ground.

She was arrested and is being held at the Oakland County Jail pending charges.

The children were not injured.

Police say the mother got into an argument with her husband earlier in the day. However, they're not sure whether that might have been a catalyst for her behavior.
