DETROIT – Detectives from the Detroit Police Department are investigating a shooting that happened on the city's west side.
Update: Fake cops break into Detroit home, shoot man twice in back
Sources tell Local 4 a man in his mid-30s was shot at least one time inside a home in the 6300 block of Mettetal shortly after 4:30 a.m.
Three men wearing all black and masks kicked in a side door to the home and announced they were police. The intruders then shot the man twice in the back and took money from the house before they fled.
The victim is in stable condition.
"First they told him, 'Lay down on the ground face down.' After that they lifted him up and told him, 'Lay on the bed ... and they shot him twice in the back,'" said Sgt. Ray Saati.
Police said a 5-year-old boy also was inside but he was not injured.
Police believe this stemmed from a prior altercation.
