Pregnant woman carjacked outside Detroit restaurant

Detroit Police are looking for at least two suspects who carjacked a pregnant woman on Detroit's Eastside Monday Morning.

Just before 4:30am 34-year-old Candice Adams of Pontiac, who is six months pregnant, was in the drive-through at Lou's Coney Island on Mound Road at 7 Mile. That's when a gunman approached Adams and stole her 2006 Nissan Altima.

"This is her first baby, she's 34, a single mom, she is just traumatized," said Gloria Payne, the victim's aunt.

Police and family tell Local 4 Candice works at the Chrysler plant at 8 Mile and Mound and stopping at Lou's for breakfast is normal.

"It's part of her routine," said Payne. "She stopped in for food to feed her and that baby before she went to work at Chrysler."

The suspect is believed to be 25 to 28 years old, was seen in surveillance video wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt and carrying a shot gun. No shots were fired, there were no injuries but this was a robbery that could have claimed two lives.

"In the blink of an eye it could have been different," said the victim's aunt. "But she's 34 this trauma could mean she's not out of the woods yet, there could be complications."
