Several people evacuated after Southfield apartment fire

Investigators believe fire started on sixth floor

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – Several people were evacuated early Monday morning after an apartment fire in Southfield.

Firefighters were called to the Franklin Apartments on the 28000 block of Franklin Rd after reports of flames.  

The fire was contained to the sixth floor.  Authorities believe it started in a storage room.   

The flames are out, but one resident told Local 4 he is not being allowed to go back inside yet.

No one was seriously hurt, but emergency crews treated one person with asthma.
