Sexual assault, armed robbery reported hours apart at University of Michigan

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Two separate violent incidences were reported at the University of Michigan overnight, with both of the incidences taking place just hours apart.

The University of Michigan Division of Public Safety and Security said the first incident occurred Friday, at approximately 8 p.m., when a female jogger was grabbed by the arm and pulled to the ground by an unknown man.

The assailant then sexually assaulted the victim before she was able to break free and run for help.

The victim described the assailant as a white man in his 20s, taller than 5 feet 7 inches with brown hair and an average build. He was last seen wearing a black sweatshirt.

Hours later, at approximately 1:45 a.m. Saturday, an armed robbery was reported about four miles from the sexual assault incident.

Ann Arbor police said two victims invited three people, who were described as new acquaintances, into their apartment. After entering the home, the trio produced a handgun and robbed the two victims in their own home.

Police said the three suspects fled the scene.
