Troy High School student hurt in hit-and-run

Sources say driver arrested at his home in Troy

TROY, Mich. – Troy police are questioning the driver who hit a 17-year-old who was biking to Troy High School on Friday morning.

Capt. Bob Redmond said the student was hit on Northfield Parkway at Perrin Street by a white SUV that kept going.

"As far as the crash with the bicyclist, he may not be at fault. We will wait until the investigation is totally completed," said Lt. Bob Redmond. "But not stopping did not do him any good."

Surveillance cameras from the high school captured the SUV's license plate. Police were able to track down the driver through the registration information.

Redmond said the driver is the parent of a student at the high school and at the school doing a drop off.

Sources told Local 4 the driver told police he fled the scene because he was driving without a license.
