Zug Island steel mill suffers explosion

RIVER ROUGE, Mich. – An explosion occurred Friday night at the United States Steel plant on Zug Island.

UPDATE: US Steel releases statement on Zug Island steel mill explosion

According to authorities, a furnace exploded. The explosion was minor and authorities are unsure if anyone was injured.

Police and fire emergency crews were called to the scene. 

The investigation is ongoing.
