DETROIT - It's not surprising that the Ford display at the 2013 North American International Auto Show in Detroit is one of the most extensive.
It might be a bit overwhelming to walk up to the display with such a variety of vehicles, new and old. But a thorough recap of the automaker's proud history, offered by Henry Ford himself, helps -- and it's a lot of fun.
Mr. Ford and a crew of other time-piece actors take you on more than a tour of the vehicles. They bring you back to where it all started in 1903 with Ford's iconic Model A. From there, the rest is history.
From the old Ford pickup to the new, eco-friendly Fiesta, Ford's history and future are on display. Henry, in his modest yet confident demeanor, spews a wealth of information on the company he started. He throws out fact after fact and tid-bit after tid-bit, bringing Ford's history to life in a truly personable way.
Moreover, just as one would expect from one of the most influential entrepreneurs of the 20th Century, Mr. Ford knows everything about where Ford is now and where it wants to be in the future. He hasn't missed a step.
