DETROIT – Thursday evening will be beautiful but cold. Colder than average conditions occur overnight setting the stage for snow Friday. As much as two inches is possible.

Thursday evening will be mostly clear and chilly. Temps will be in the 30s with wind chills near freezing or lower. Remember to bundle up, but roads will be dry for dinner-time or late-night plans. Sunset is at 7:41 p.m., and it will be gorgeous with a blue, yellow and orange sky.
Clouds gather Thursday night as temperatures drop to the 20s. Overnight lows will be in the upper teens in many surrounding neighborhoods and in the low 20s in Motown.
Snow arrives Friday, but it's part of a fast-moving system and afternoon temps will mean a wintry mix after lunchtime.
The first snowflake start falling after 8 a.m.; beginning in the regions South and West Zones (in Lenawee and Washtenaw Counties. Between the end of the morning commute (9 a.m. or 10 a.m.) and lunchtime, light to moderate snow overtakes Detroit and most of Southeast Michigan. There will be a few heavy bursts. By early afternoon, one to two inches of new snow will fall south of 8 Mile Road and West of I-275. The North Zone (areas north of Hall Road) will receive between a trace and one inch of new snow.
A few raindrops will mix with snowflakes during the afternoon commute and temps rise to the middle and upper 30s.
Saturday will have scattered rain and snow showers with highs in the low 40s.
Sunday will be sunnier with highs in the middle 40s.
Spring begins at 6:28 a.m. Monday with the Vernal Equinox. Daytime temps will rise to the low and middle 50s, but rain showers are possible. It will be chillier the rest of next week.
