Temps stick to 70s, sun mixes with clouds on Wednesday

Dry, cooler stretch of weather ahead

DETROIT – It may feel a bit more like early Fall outside today, but this beats a heat wave any day.

Highs will hit middle 70s with north winds blowing off the big lakes which will drag batches of clouds over Metro Detroit from time to time. Clear skies tonight will help us drop into the 40s and 50s across the state overnight. It's a dry and cooler stretch allowing us to open the windows and save a few bucks.

Thursday will be another crisp start in the mid to upper 50s around here, but the cooler north winds shift to the east or southeast. That will allow us to warm up a few degrees tomorrow afternoon. Expect a mix of sun and clouds Thursday with highs in the upper 70s.

Our next weather maker will be on the move Friday. Our computer models hold the rain and thunder off until early Saturday.

A few scattered showers are possible with the heat of the late afternoon or evening Friday. Again, most of the wet weather will be early Saturday and some of the storms could pack a punch. We'll keep you posted as the system gets closer. Either way, our Saturday morning cold front will set the stage for a comfortable and cooler weekend once the storms clear out.
