Crews extinguish fire at apartment on University of Michigan’s North Campus

No injuries reported, fire department says

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Firefighters responded to an apartment fire on the University of Michigan’s North Campus on Wednesday afternoon, officials said.

The fire happened at an apartment building in the 2300 block of Bishop at around 2:42 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 17.

When firefighters arrived, they found fire in the walls and attic.

“Multiple layers of roofing and insulation made access through the roof challenging, but crews were able to bring the fire under control within 30 minutes,” according to a social media post from the Ann Arbor Fire Department.

No injuries were reported.

The U-M Fire Marshal is investigating the cause and origin of the fire.

“Thank you to Ann Arbor Township FD for assisting on scene, and to Scio Township FD, Pittsfield Township FD, and Ann Arbor Township FD for providing citywide coverage during the incident,” the Ann Arbor Fire Department said.
