Car freezes in icy water after crashing into fire hydrant, flooding street on Detroit’s east side
DETROIT – A broken fire hydrant on Detroit’s east side has completely flooded the street near Coleman Young International Airport.
A car crashed into the hydrant and is now frozen in the icy water near the intersection of French Road and Leander Street on Monday, Feb. 9.
Crews are currently on scene working to shut off the water and assess the damage.
Officials from the Great Lakes Water Authority have been contacted regarding their repair plan.
Authorities said no homes have been impacted by the flooding at this time.
