Iraqi refugee shares his amazing story with Shawn Ley

DETROIT – Incredible stories are all around us in Detroit.

Right across the street from Local 4, a man working the door at the hotel shared his story with Shawn Ley.

We want to share his story with you.

From being attacked in his native Iraq, to losing a child in Syria, to becoming a refugee and making it to the U.S.

Usam and his family are in Detroit, and now his daughter is realizing her dreams of becoming a doctor. Usam's journey is quite remarkable.
