Rock radio host creates book of interviews with musicians

Pam Rossi shares dozen conversations she's had with guests

DETROIT – For more than 25 years, Pam Rossi has shared her voice with rock radio in Detroit.

For the last 12, she's called 94.7 WCSX home, where she hosts and produces the "Over Easy" show on Sunday morning.

The show is all about bringing underground music to the airwaves and introducing listeners to artists they may not have heard of before -- whether they are local, national, even international.

“What you’re going to hear, because it is a classic rock station, I go a little deeper into the classic rock genre, I play the deeper cuts, tell listeners more detail about the singer song writer, it’s very mellow,” Rossi said, during an interview.

Rather than letting those on-air conversations sit in a taped (no digital) archive, she wanted to bring those conversations -- word for word -- to paper so that fans can re-experience the interview in a new way. That’s how the book “Conversations with Pam Rossi” was born.

“People would call up and email constantly saying, 'I want to re-listen to that, or I missed it, or how can I hear it again?'” Rossi said. “So, that’s where the wheels started turning, this is some great material, let’s put it into a book.”

The book features interviews with dozens of musicians, including "The Voice” contestant Tony Lucca, actor/singer Jeff Daniels and Deep Purple guitarist Roger Glover.

“I had to hire professionals to transcribe my interviews word for word, it was a lot harder than I thought,” said Rossi.

The book sections the artists off under Rockers, Fingerstylists, Singer/Songwriters, Folk Americana and Blues.

“This book allows readers to experience the conversations with the artists and myself in an intimate setting and gives a glimpse into their personalities, experiences and stories,” Rossi said.

The book is available to purchase online, but Rossi wants to meet you in person. Check her Facebook page for updates on book parties.

“At each book release party an artist that’s featured in the book will join me to perform, I want this to be a mini concert setting,” she said.
