Nestlé Purina PetCare is voluntarily recalling one lot of its cat food because it might not contain enough of an essential nutrient for cats.
The specific lot of Purina Veterinary Diets OM Overweight Management canned cat food may contain a low level of thiamine, or Vitamin B1.

The recall is a precautionary measure after one consumer complaint received by the Food and Drug Administration. Testing of the product sample by the FDA indicated a low level of thiamine.
Cats fed this affected product exclusively for several weeks may be at risk for developing a thiamine deficiency. Signs of thiamine deficiency may include decreased appetite, salivation and vomiting, or weight loss. Neurological symptoms can also develop. If your cat is experiencing any of these symptoms, contact your veterinarian immediately.
The recalled canned cat food was distributed to veterinary clinics between June, 2011 and May, 2012. It's not sold in retail stores.
Consumers who have purchased this product should stop feeding their cats the product, and throw it away.
