Know the basics of your home's electrical system No description found
While you don’t need to be an electrician, you should know the basics of your home’s electrical system.
Grade of electrical outlets: There are three grades of outlets: homeowner grade, commercial grade and hospital grade. The homeowner grade outlets are the cheapest, and the hospital grade are the most expensive. You will probably want to install something that’s commercial grade.
Tamper-resistant receptacles: The NEC requires that tamper-resistant receptacles be installed in new homes. These are meant to prevent children from getting shocked by the outlets.
Rotating electrical outlet: A rotating electrical outlet is designed for convenience. This allows you to rotate plugs around so you can fit numerous plug-ins in one outlet.
Outdoor outlets: For your outdoor spaces, there are special outdoor outlets available. These are resistant to extreme temperatures and UV rays.
