DEARBORN HEIGHTS, Mich. – rom Local 4 is proud to bring back for the second year the Michigan Schools Expo this weekend.
Hundreds of schools, pre school through college and trade schools, are all under one roof for potential students and parents to meet and talk with representatives.
Westwood New Technology High School in Dearborn Heights
Not all students thrive in the same learning environment, but you can ask any of the students at Westwood New Technology High School in Dearborn Heights and they'll tell you the school's project-based collaborative learning model is as good as it gets.
It's a unique new public high school in the Westwood Community School District in Dearborn Heights. The school principal said it is the direction education is going.
"That all schools will have some form of project-based learning," said principal Shannon Smith.
Students at Westwood New Tech complete real-world projects and presentations together to learn material.
"The projects are compelling and the work is engaging," said Smith.
The result is smarter, goal-oriented, confident business-minded future leaders.
