DETROIT – The 910 AM Superstation spot left vacant after Monica Conyers' firing will be filled by former Detroit Tigers pitcher Denny McLain.

The station announced McLain will host a show about life and politics -- not baseball -- on Sundays between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. His first broadcast will be this Sunday, April 9.

"My advice to Denny is to bring his own refreshments and avoid staying at The Peninsula hotel at all costs!" station owner Kevin Adell said in a news release.

McLain will be live on 910 AM throughout Friday, April 7 for coverage of the Tigers' Opening Day game at Comerica Park.

Conyers was fired from her job at the station in March after being on the air for less than six months. Adell wrote a scathing internal memo listing several reasons for firing the former Detroit City Council president.

"Monica Conyers is still the same old-same old, she hasn’t been rehabilitated. Monica Conyers is the same person you saw in City Council with her sense of entitlement," Adell wrote.
