Let the fan speculation begin!

The legendary Detroit rock back from, The White Stripes, will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this coming weekend on Saturday, and up until recently, I haven’t given much thought about the band reuniting for a performance...until now.

If you follow guitarist and lead singer Jack White on Instagram, you may have noticed that on Thursday afternoon, he posted a series of images of his former bandmate behind the drumkit, and it got me thinking -- is Jack White teasing a reunion?

The last time The White Stripes performed together was 18 years ago at a concert in Mississippi. Meg White basically said she didn’t want to perform anymore, and since then, Jack White has had an extensive solo music career without Meg.

Much has been said about Meg White and her career as a drummer since her departure, but one thing has always been certain: we’d never see her behind the drumkit again.

Historically, bands or artists that are inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame typically perform at the induction ceremony. There have been plenty of instances when that didn’t happen, but regardless, the artist’s music is celebrated by some sort of performance.

Since Jack White was actively touring and this year, it would be safe to assume that we would dig into The White Stripes back catalog and perform a few songs at the ceremony. I don’t think anyone thought much about Meg joining for a performance, let alone even show up to the ceremony -- but could it actually happen?

Jack’s Instagram posts have to mean something, right? It’s probably just him celebrating his very talented former bandmate and ex-wife, but it’s kind of fun to think of it as something more!

Meg White has made it very clear that she no longer has any interest in performing, but perhaps and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony could convince her?! I’m not going to hold my breath, but it would be pretty incredible to see the duo reunite for such a special night.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony is Saturday, Nov. 8 in Los Angeles, and will stream live on Disney+.
