WDIV Insiders were chatty this week about the Tigers, the eclipse, and ... milk chutes? We love seeing the community takeoff in their own direction, which is what happened here. Over at MIPics, lots of eclipse photos and a celebrity vehicle appearance. Check them out and share your own comments and photos! Not an Insider? Join here to share comments and MI Pics today.

“As a driver who has done work with the Lions organization for 25 years, the Staffords are quality, principled people. I saw it first hand. They treat us with respect.” -RockN JB, Matthew Stafford, wife open new community center in Detroit

“My grandma was such a fan of the Tigers. We’d watch every game together.. she taught me everything I know about baseball. Because of her, I joined after school and summer softball teams. She wasn’t in the best of health but for years till I was in high school, she came to 75% of my games and cheered me on while I was up to bat and coached me on what a good left fielder could become.

The Tigers are my fondest memories of sharing time with her. She was a true lover of the game…

GO TIGERS!!!

Let’s break this streak of bad baseball and show everyone what the DETROIT TIGERS are capable of!! 😁🤗” -DanielleMichele

“Funny how no one has mentioned the old method of watching a solar eclipse that has worked for generations! We fill a large coal bucket with water, and safely watch the reflection. Easy and safe!” -HerbiesMomma

“How cool is that?! We have a non-functioning milk chute on the back of our house that is drywalled over in the kitchen now, with an old paddle lock on the outside that would need to be cut with bolt cutters. When we drywalled over it, we made our own time capsule with newspapers, knick knacks, and even a bottle of bourbon. Who knows when it will ever be opened?” -St. Clair Shores, 1920s time capsule found in historic Detroit building

(Great ongoing conversation about laundry shoots, milk shoots, stinky wet towels and lost toys.)

“Funny what people consider the best places to live. Stuck in a city with high taxes, traffic, and a neighbor 30 feet away isn’t something I’d call a great place to live. To each his own.” -public opinion, Best place to live in Michigan

“Delighted to see this big rare flower in process. Will it be red, will it be purple! Thank you for sharing the progress of this biggest of the big (Scented pendants anyone) when the time comes. Your conservatory is lovely. Excited to see it, and glad to have the live webcam.Thank you!” -Tatiana122, Rare corpse flower to bloom in Washtenaw County
