About the 2016 contestants:

Antea Shelton, vocal coach of the Detroit Institute of Music Education, and Local 4 producers are helping the singers with all of the behind-the-scenes preparation. It culminates with the semi-finalists performing live in front of a TV audience of hundreds of thousands.

Black, 30, of Redford, is excited and a little nervous, but confident about singing in front of a large crowd during WDIV’s broadcast of “The Ford Fireworks.” She says it’s strange singing in front of just four people during rehearsals because she's had experience singing in front of thousands.

Thirteen-year-old Brianna Seaborn of Detroit, the youngest of the semi-finalists, doesn’t seem fazed by the intense competition.  She’s become more comfortable on stage and is heeding her coaches’ tips of showing more emotion when she sings.

Grace Lee, 17, of Rochester, is looking forward to being part of this year’s Super Singer contest. She’s ready to show off her jazzy voice to metro Detroiters. Lee says she’s enjoyed the experience of performing on a practice stage so on show night she’ll be used to all the cameras and lights around her.

Byron Cancelmo, 47, of West Bloomfield, is ready to be the last man standing in this competition and eager to get his chance to shine. He says he’s grateful for the free singing tips from the coaches and just happy to be a part of what he calls “an amazing opportunity.”
