Residents concerned after Ebola patient was in Ohio before diagnosis

2nd health care worker with Ebola was in Akron area over weekend

TALLMADGE, Ohio – The second nurse to test positive for Ebola arrived at an Atlanta hospital for treatment while there are new shocking allegations that she was given the OK to get on a plane, even though she had a fever.

According to a government spokesperson, Amber Vinson contacted the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention before her flight to ask if she could get on a plane with an elevated temperature and they gave her the go-ahead.

This is a direct contradiction of what the CDC director said earlier Wednesday, when he said she never should have been on a commercial flight. Vinson traveled from Cleveland to Dallas on Monday and was officially diagnosed Tuesday night with Ebola.

Vinson works at the hospital where the initial Ebola patient was treated and had extensive contact with him before his death.

While she undergoes treatment part of the focus has moved to Ohio, specifically the people Vinson contacted. Vinson spent the weekend in the city of Tallmadge.

Vinson visited her mother over the weekend at a home in Tallmadge, Ohio, outside of Akron.

A man believed to be Vinson's stepfather is doing what Vinson did not do -- he's self-quarantined at his home. His mother lives here, too, and was with Vinson, also. She told health officials that Vinson did not seem sick when she visited last weekend.

That mother is on the move to be with her daughter as she received critical care in Atlanta. The mom is not self-quarantined.

Health officials are still trying to establish the timeline from when Vinson landed in Cleveland -- believe to be last Wednesday -- and then came to the Akron area, leaving this past Monday.

Even now, it's unclear where Vinson went and who she saw.

Neighbors are on edge and they have questions. One neighbor is from West Africa, She said the government isn't doing enough to keep people safe to keep Ebola from spreading.
