This is an update from my original post in the first edition of addiction stories .
At that time my daughter was in jail after getting caught stealing to pay for her drug of choice -- heroin. She was released a couple days after Christmas and seemed to be in a good place at that time. She was able to get a job where she had worked previously and was spending some time with a couple of her friends who were not a part of her drug world.
But it wasn't long before she began seeing some people she met in jail who had gotten out and shared the same addiction. I know they were most likely making the drive down to 7 Mile and Van Dyke to the drug house.
During that two and a half month period she turned 23 years old. She was working steadily and still spending time with her " good" friend. She was also still using. Less than 24 hours ago my husband found her dead upstairs in her bedroom.
I'm relieved that she is no longer in pain from a life that was so torturous, but for myself and my husband our torture will continue forever.
