Detroit rapper Sada Baby learns sentence for felony drug charge

Possession of a controlled substance less than 25 grams carries a maximum sentence of 4 years

MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. – Detroit rapper Casada Sorrell, better known as Sada Baby, was sentenced on Thursday to six months probation for a felony drug charge stemming from a 2025 traffic stop.

Sorrell, 33, pleaded no contest to the charge last month as part of a plea agreement. An additional charge for being a habitual offender - third offense, was dropped at his sentencing.

Shelby Township Police arrested Sorrell in April 2025 for a felony drug warrant out of Sterling Heights, and was charged with possession of a controlled substance less than 25 grams after police allegedly found a bag of pills in his car.

The pills were identified as Acetaminophen and Oxycodone Hydrochloride, a Schedule 2 controlled substance, for which Sorrell did not have a valid prescription.

The warrant stems from his January 2025 arrest in Sterling Heights for driving without a license. During his arrest, police said “possible illegal contraband” was found in Sorrell’s vehicle.

“Illicit narcotics pose a serious threat to the safety and well-being of our community,” Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido said in response to Sorrell’s initial arrest. “When an individual chooses to possess these substances, they endanger lives and contribute to the cycle of addiction that affects families across our county.”

In addition to the six months of non-reporting probation, Sorrell was sentenced to three days in jail — with three days of credit for time already served — and will be required to undergo random drug screenings.
