Meet the comedian who is doing more than just standup

Learn about this comedian’s upcoming shows, and comedy roots in Detroit

She’s toured with the likes of Martin Lawrence, Chris Tucker, Katt Williams, and you may also recognize her from Def Comedy Jam. Melanie Comarcho joined “Live In The D” hosts Jason Carr and Tati Amare on the show to talk about her upcoming event, and history in Detroit.

The standup comedian, actor, writer, and producer was actually on tour with Martin Lawrence for years. She said he like her comedy and told her whenever he went on tour she would come with him, and he kept his work. Melanie said Lawrence inspired her to get into moviemaking, and that led to her new movie Boosters LA which is streaming right now.

The movie is about a group of thieves living in Los Angeles. The leader of the group is attempting to make enough money to open his own store and go legit. Melanie wore multiple hats during the filmmaking process as she undertook writing, directing, editing, and scoring the movie.

Melanie said Detroit is familiar territory and reminisced about performing at the Fox Theatre with Katt Williams, Chris Tucker, and Maxwell. She will be performing at Bert’s Comedy Warehouse this Friday and Saturday, at 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m..
