Late night laughs with Paul Mecurio

He will be performing in Royal Oak this week!

He has received both an Emmy and a Peabody award. He may be seen on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” on a regular basis; he also works on that show. He had his own Comedy Central special and has been on HBO. If that isn’t enough, comedian Paul Mecurio hosts a podcast with A-list guests such as Kevin Costner, Kyra Sedgwick, Spike Lee, Stephen Colbert, and even Sir Paul McCartney.

Paul Mecurio joined “Live In The D” co-host Jason Carr ahead of his shows at Mark Ridley’s Comedy Castle in Royal Oak tonight through Saturday.

Paul says Mark Ridley’s Comedy Castle is special since it is one of the country’s original comedy clubs, and Paul mentioned that Tim Allen began his career there. He says it is the greatest club in the country and that Mike treats comedians really well. He says that they look after the comedians and make it easy for them to put on amazing shows, and that the crowds are fantastic.

The comedian talked about working with Stephen Colbert saying they have a history dating back to “The Daily Show”. During the show he does stand-up, sketches, and the warmup of the crowd.

Working there allows him to meet a lot of people, and he shared photos of himself with folks like Jon Stewart and Bryan Cranston. He also shared a story about Paul McCartney, who was on the show doing a performance and had just finished rehearsal. He said he saw him standing alone in the hallway, approached him, and ended up having him on his podcast.

Mecurio will play at Mark Ridley’s Comedy Castle this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night.
