Check out this trend that’s making a comeback

Cargo pants are back in style

A trend from the late 90s and early 2000s is making a return. Jon Jordan, Local 4 Style Editor, joined Tati Amare on “Live in the D” to talk all things cargo.

According to Jordan, cargo pants are making a comeback.

“Younger generations that haven’t previously experienced a trend become interested and this is a very researched topic online. It could possibly replace jeans, according to Vogue,” he said.

Jordan said the current cargo trend is all about reinventing the old trend.

“The details for the new cargo pant are to differentiate it from the old cargo pant. So, it might have a wrap waist, or it also might be a different length,” said Jordan. “It’s how you accessorize it, they even make them in leather and vegan leather now, and in bright colors, so a new trend is about reinterpreting the old trend.”

According to Jordan, a look you can create at home is contrasting denim with the cargo look.

“I took an old pair of cargo pants, and a new pair of denim, I just cut the pocket out, you could glue that on if you don’t have sewing skills, and then you could add details and make it intentionally contrasting,” he said. “That makes it so much more interesting than just a pair of jeans or just a pair of cargo pants.”
