Motown legends return to Detroit this weekend

The Jackson will be back in the city they call a ‘second home’

They burst onto the scene with Motown in the 1960s, and they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997. Now, it’s your chance to see the legendary group The Jacksons live in person. They will be at the Music Hall Center for the Performing Arts this Friday night. Ahead of the concert, Jackie Jackson spoke to “Live In The D” host Tati Amare about returning to town.

“It means a lot to come to Detroit because that’s where it all started for us. Coming to Detroit, it’s like a second home for us. We love coming to Detroit to entertain because the people are so kind and so warm, and they’re also responsible for our careers,” said Jackson.

He also reminisced about the time he and his brothers spent working at Hittsville on the Motown label and all the legends that worked there and inspired them. He said being in the studio in Detroit was like going to school. “They taught us about lyrical content and how to have a strong hook in a song,” said Jackson. “We learned so much from them.”

Jackson also spoke to being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and what that means to him and his brothers. “It’s something special. You can’t take that away from anyone.”

Tati also asked Jackson about the one song that he would say is his favorite. See what Jackson said by clicking the video player above.
