Fresh off the ‘Tonight Show’ this Irish dance group is coming to Detroit

Enjoy a traditional Irish rooted dance performance ahead of St. Patrick’s Day

This Sunday is St. Patrick’s Day and there’s a way you can get into the spirit of the annual holiday before it arrives. This Friday night, at the Music Hall in Detroit, Trinity Irish Dance Company will take the stage. The performance takes place after the group performs on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon” this week. Ahead of their Detroit performance, Chelsea Hoy, the company’s Associate Artistic Director, appeared on “Live in the D” to chat about the upcoming show and their history on “The Tonight Show”.

“The founders and dancers have made 6 appearances on “The Tonight Show” throughout our 34 year history,” Hoy said.

She said this dates back to Johnny Carson days which was a launching point for the creation of the unique non-profit performing arts Irish Dance Company.

She said people that attend their shows will see they are traditionally rooted in Irish dance history, but they’re pushing the boundaries and celebrating the dance through an art driven lens.
