Should grandparents spoil their grandkids?

Friends of “Live In The D” talk about being grandparents

There’s nothing quite like the bond between grandparents and their grandchildren, and it usually comes with special treatment for grandkids.

Friends of “Live In The D” appeared on the show to talk about life as grandparents. The conversation included former “Live In The D” floor director Randy Henry who is a grandpa of four, along with Blaine Fowler from “Blaine and Lauren” on 96.3 WDVD who is a new grandfather to a six-week-old grandbaby. Randy and Blaine talked with “Live In The D” host Tati Amare and guest host Jasen Magic.

Both Randy and Blaine are supporters of spoiling grandchildren. Randy said his grandchildren climb all over his couch and dirty up the house, but he never makes them pick up after themselves. Blaine said he let his new grandbaby nap on him for three hours the other day.

“I was like a drill sergeant by comparison,” Randy said when the group talked about parenting approaches compared to the approach to grandparenting.

Of course grandparents knew the role of being parents first, so they have a lot of advice stored away. As a grandparent, Blaine said he tries not to hand out parenting advice, but he admitted that he does end up giving advice. Randy explained that he stays in his lane.

“I’m not going to tell them how to raise their kids,” Randy said.
