Lidia Vesterfelt with Michigan Humane explained that taking your dog for a walk provides benefits for both pet parents and their fur babies.

• Helps keep muscles and bones mobile as you age
• Lowers blood pressure and stress levels
• Strengthens your bond with your dog
• Allows dogs to decompress, meaning they’re less likely to engage in destructive behaviors at home

If your dog pulls on the leash, Lidia suggests purchasing a harness to help ease strain on their neck.
