Bookstock celebrates Detroit 4th grader

Skylar Chapman won the B.E.S.T. Awards

Each year, Bookstock offers readers a chance to shop from a selection of thousands of books at Laurel Park Place in Livonia, but another special part of the event is the B.E.S.T. Awards.

This year, fourth grader Skylar Chapman from Cooke STEM Academy won an award for the essay she submitted for the contest, which had the theme of “My Favorite Book Character…and Why”.

Skylar wrote that her favorite character is Isabella from “Blended” by Sharon M. Draper. She explained the similarities she found between herself and the character.

Skylar was awarded a trophy, a gift card, a book, and a certificate. Her teacher and school also received prizes.
